Bhakti Yoga – Chant and Meditation

What is Bhakti Yoga?

Bhakti Yoga is the path "union through love and devotion." It is one of the systems of Yoga and to practice Bhakti Yoga is to having an experience of oneness with everything. The Sanskrit word bhakti comes from the root word bhaj, which means “to adore or worship God.”

Through our devotional striving, Bhakti Yoga takes us to this experience of the Ultimate Love and Truth." Sri Anandamayi Ma

What does Bhakti Yoga involve?

Our practice is to gather together and using the healing power of our voices, we sing devotional chants and mantras and meditate, which moves us into our hearts and to the awareness of love that is our true nature.

Chanting, especially with others, is known to calm the mind, allowing us to let go of anxious thoughts and worries and brings us to a place of peace and clarity. You do not need any experience in singing or meditation, everyone is welcome.

Lucia has a passion for sacred chants and mantras and the power of the human voice to connect us to each other, to the divine in each of us and to the one voice of the heart. Lucia holds a warm, safe and healing space, one where you can discover the voice of your soul.

Venue:  All classes on-line for the moment, using Zoom. Contact me for the link. You can use a computer, laptop or phone - easy to access.

Time: Sundays 7-8pm

Cost: During this time, This event is free, however If you wish to offer a donation for this, please give to a charity of your choice.

Voice Workshops over Zoom (1.5 hours)

How do you feel about your self, your voice?

These half day workshops invite you to discover your authentic voice, free from judgement, self-consciousness, and fear. We will explore a range of sound skills for self-inquiry, conscious movement, and the healing medicine of deep listening and silence.  You will find yourself breathing deeper and sounding out in ways that you never heard before and are as unique as your own DNA.

Breathwork

Breathwork is a very powerful experience led by your soul's intention and remembering your natural, connected breath to guide and to reawaken your inner knowing. It is a journey to give you insights and clarity. An opportunity to reveal and release held patterns in your body allowing you make available to you more of your own life force.

Coming together in a group amplifies the field which enables deep shifts and healing to occur. The energy of the group dynamic can help access places within that are may be difficult to bring to the surface otherwise, coming together in community promotes compassion for self and others and deepens intention and commitment.

New Year Celebration

The dream team is back again by popular demand. Come and start your new year with us, in song, in sound, in love and in tea!!

We will begin with chant and mantra with Lucia, Fran, Mia & Clive. In the after glow of the chanting, we will bathe and journey with the magnificent sounds of Tibetan Bowls and Gong with Brenda.

Afterwards, we hope you can join us for a cuppa tea/coffee and a chat!

Gentle Yoga & Meditation

A weekly gentle yoga and meditation course which is suitable for beginners and those looking to develop their yoga practice. Emphasis on breathing techniques, gentle movements, body awareness, while strengthening the body and calming the mind.

Each week we will deepen our practice and skill, using gentle yoga sequences to bring us into our bodies and creative practices such as breath work, guided meditations poetry etc. to develop awareness and bring us into this present moment which, if practiced regularly, can truly help to ignite your own natural healing process.

There are so many benefits to developing self awareness and mediation, here are just a few;

  • Calm Your Mind - by bring your attention to your breathing, your normal busy mind will begin to let go of it's busyness allowing you to relax.
  • Focus - you can use the techniques in this class as a daily practice, some are so simple you can do them at your desk or in place of a coffee break. This will bring your focus into the present moment allowing you to control your thoughts and better focus on what's important.
  • Reduce Stress & Anxiety. Our minds are often worrying about what happened in the past or what might happen in the future which creates stress and anxiety in our lives. Bringing our mind into the present moment relieves us from these patters of worry and stress and thereby bringing more peace into our lives.
  • Listening. By taking the time to calm our mind and focus on what's happening in our bodies right now, physically, emotionally and spiritually we can begin to really listen to ourselves, get to know ourselves more intimately, increase our own intuition and begin to live more meaningful and fulfilling lives.
  • Community/Connection In this digital age where we have so many ways to connect with each other, we often find that we have less physical connection and social interaction with each other. Coming together gives us the opportunity to practice together, which increases the intensity and power of our practice, and also to meet other like-minded people.

Coherent Breathing

I have been sharing the Coherent Breathing Technique in my classes and so many of you have told me how much you enjoyed it and using it had helped you calm your mind and become more peaceful and focused.  One of the many benefits of Coherent breathing is it how easy it is - you can practice it anywhere and in almost any situation. Follow the simple technique below, and as an aid to you - I have recorded the bells I use in my classes to signal the in and out breath for a 5 minute practice. You can play it online or download to your device for use anywhere. Of course you don't need the bells, but they are a great support to allow you to focus on your breath, and let it do the work on your body, mind and spirit.

Coherent Breathing Technique

Promotes Relaxation and calms the mind

Prepare

Sit comfortably and focus gently on your current quality of breath, body and mind.
Play bells

Breathe

At each bell ring, breathe in and out alternately (5 second intervals)

Sit and Meditate

Sit and notice the quality of your breath, body and mind for another 5 minutes

Repeat Daily

Repeat this practice at least once a day

Coherent Breathing

Stephen Elliot  is the originator of Coherent breathing which has now been adopted by so many teachers and researchers of breathwork.  One of the many excellent benefits of Coherent breathing is that is it is so easy and accessible and a regular practice is know to have so many wonderful physical and emotional benefits. Humming Meditation

Humming meditation
  1. Find a quite, comfortable place to sit, on a chair or on the floor
  2. Make sure you body is relaxed, stretch and release any tension in your body, especially your face, jaw, shoulders and belly.
  3. Take a moment to listen, start with external sounds, then slowly bringing the attention into the body, noticing any sounds, your breathing, gurgling etc
  4. Take a few slow breaths in and out and when you are ready, gently bring your lips together and make a humming sound on the out breath. Keep listening to your body when you breath in.
  5. Continue humming on the out breath, feel free to change the tone or pitch of your hum. You might event like to experiment with different tones.
  6. Feel the hum travel through your whole body, filling your head, torso, legs, all your internal organs… as though you are re-tuning your whole cellular structure.
  7. Continue initially for a couple of minutes (you can extend it up to about 10 minutes each day).
  8. Once you finish, take a few moments of stillness to witness and experience the effects.
Humming Benefits

  1. Relaxation – stills the busy mind.
  2. Deeper breathing – the humming has the effect of stretching the out breath.
  3. Grounding, I feel more in my body, more solid.
  4. Aliveness, increased energy – I find that my whole body is energised after humming, I can almost hear each cell come alive and start to hum.

Sounds of Devotion (Clonakilty)

An evening sharing Heart opening Songs, Mantras & Poetry. 

We will sing together and discover the beauty of mantras, sacred songs and, in the stillness, I will offer some spoken word from some of the most beautiful and sacred poets from around the world.  It is a devotional gathering which has been described as a way to come home to yourself.

Everyone is most welcome. No experience of singing or chanting is needed, just a desire to express universal love through singing and being together.
