What is YOGA NIDRA
Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep, brings you into a state of consciousness that is between waking and sleeping. This results in a very deep relaxation which is rejuvenating for the body and mind. It is practiced lying down in a warm, comfortable position and the practitioner is guided through a body scan and a series of specific steps. It can be likened to hypnosis, but you are encouraged to stay awake and alert. Yoga Nidra is not about 'conscious effort' but 'conscious relaxation', similar to the letting go that we experience in going to sleep.
At the beginning of the practice, you state an intention (sankalpa) which is a positive, consise wish for change in your life. Once the sankalpa is repeated, we let it go and allow a deep relaxation into the body, allowing our unconscious self to guide and heal us in response to that sankalpa.
Chanting is a rhythmical repetition (either silently or aloud) of a song, prayer, word or sound. It is one of the most ancient spiritual practices and a part of most religions and spiritual paths.
We welcome you to join us to chant sacred mantras and songs from many traditions and discover for yourself the healing power in this ancient practice.
We will be offering this over Zoom and may have a number of live places depending on the numbers we're allowed to have indoors. Let us know your preference when booking.
“Kirtan is like a magnet, inviting and begging grace to enter our hearts and our lives. It is a most precious thing, something to be cherished and practiced with total gratitude, and those who learn how to enter into it will feel God’s grace and presence as the closest of the close, the dearest of the dear—our true beloved.” - Jai Uttal

What is Bhakti Yoga?
Bhakti Yoga is the path "union through love and devotion." It is one of the systems of Yoga and to practice Bhakti Yoga is to having an experience of oneness with everything. The Sanskrit word bhakti comes from the root word bhaj, which means “to adore or worship God.”
“Through our devotional striving, Bhakti Yoga takes us to this experience of the Ultimate Love and Truth." Sri Anandamayi Ma
What does Bhakti Yoga involve?
Our practice is to gather together and using the healing power of our voices, we sing devotional chants and mantras and meditate, which moves us into our hearts and to the awareness of love that is our true nature.
Chanting, especially with others, is known to calm the mind, allowing us to let go of anxious thoughts and worries and brings us to a place of peace and clarity. You do not need any experience in singing or meditation, everyone is welcome.
Lucia has a passion for sacred chants and mantras and the power of the human voice to connect us to each other, to the divine in each of us and to the one voice of the heart. Lucia holds a warm, safe and healing space, one where you can discover the voice of your soul.
